Massachusetts charted the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (www.MassTech.org) to conduct a Robotics Sector Analysis to help guide the Commonwealth's investment decisions.
Dr. Waseem Naqvi, President, AUVSI New England, and Technology Director, Raytheon, participated as a member of the advisory board.
The resultant comprehensive report was released on October 18, 2016. It was compiled by Dan Kara, Research Director Robotics, ABI Research. The report cited that Robots and robotic technology are foundational, leveraging the advances in artificial intelligence, and transformative, having the ability to define a new industy.
Massachusetts is the global leader in collaborative, and consumer robots. The area is receiving skyrocketing private sector funding, and is second only to California, but on a per-capita basis is on par.
Briefly, the report cites that Massachusetts employs over 4,000 people at 122 coimpanies and generated 2015 revenues of $1.6Bn.
The activity is underpinned by a strong and vibrant research community of world-class universities including MIT, Harvard University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the University of Massachusetts, Boston University, Northeastern University, and many more. It is also home to a few accredited test sites.
