The AUVSI New England Robotica UAS Summit is the pinnacle Unmanned and Autonomous education, exhibit and networking event in the North East. The New England region boasts a large economy based on innovation, education and entrepreneurship.

Did you attend 2019 Robotica UAS Summit?

The AUVSI New England chapter would like to thank all the participants of our annual UAS Summit. We learned how to move from vision and planning, to execution and operations. This years UAS Summit brought major industry leaders providing their vision in compelling keynote presentations, and four engaging sessions. The sessions included Public Operations; Enablers; Counter-UAS; and Urban Air Mobility. 

There are a number of recent and current government initiatives intended to enable the rapid growth the US drone industry. These include the 2012 FAA UAS Test Sites, 2016 UAS Traffic Management Pilot Program (UTM PP), the recent 2017 UAS Integration Pilot Program (IPP), and the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Act. These activities seek to help participating entities drive rapid technology and applications development in the advancement of near future UAS markets. They have been met with varying success and adoption.

The commercial drone industry is calling out for more clearly defined opportunities to participate in and expand this new economy. The Robotica UAS Summit offered critical insights into real world opportunities and collaborative programs where vendors, developers and program managers can find resources and partners to advance the ecosystem, and their bottom line.

This year we year we added a pitch-fest for exhibitors and attendees as an opportunity to introduce their company or service in a single page, 3 minute format. We had nearly a dozen individuals take up the challenge, and we heard from startups, legacy firms and university researchers on a great variety of new & novel drone organizations. Given the success of this new feature, we look forward to expanding this into our future events.

Logistics

The venue for the 2019 event was the new Northeastern University's Innovation Campus at Burlington, Massachusetts (ICBM). The Innovation Campus is anchored by the George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security, which fosters collaborative research aimed at helping communities, critical systems, and infrastructure withstand, respond to, and recover from catastrophes. A suitable setting for demonstrating and learning about the new uses for Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

Travel: The Summit venue is approx 30 minutes drive from Logan Airport, Boston MA.

Directions from Boston: Take I-93 North to exit 37B onto I-95 South (also Rt. 128 South). From I-95/Rt. 128, take exit 33A in Burlington. Go straight for approximately ½ mile, then turn right at the lights onto South Bedford Street. Proceed about ¼ mile, then turn left at the red sign for Kostas Research Institute.
